After a year of rigorous development, we are immensely proud to unveil the ZLTD Series 2: an ambitious project powered by our in-house developed "RD01" Movement, featuring a unique 20-degree tilted/inclined balance wheel.
Series 2 continues our commitment to in-house finishing/manufacturing and the technical challenge of developing in-house complication modifications. This is also the direction for our future brand launches and Series 2 defines our vision for the future.
Specifications: 40mm diameter | 46mm lug-to-lug | 10.5mm thickness | 20mm lug width
A returning signature from Series 1.5, Series 2 will be available in two vibrant anodized titanium dial variants (Aubergine or Blue) with a sophisticated brushed finish.
The inherent dynamism of anodized titanium ensures that the dial offers continuous visual engagement throughout the day as the colour shifts with the different lighting conditions across the day.
The brushed surface is also meticulously chosen to provide a refined, matte backdrop that allows the mirror-polished hour indexes, watch hands, and the polished inner edge of the chapter ring to distinguish themselves with sharp clarity. Enhancing both legibility and the dial's nuanced depth.
Upon request, a hand-guilloché dial upgrade is also available upon request (renders shown).
For production, Series 2 will feature mirror-polished screws instead of heat blued screw. A decision made to harmonize perfectly with the overall aesthetic.
Series 2 also features our signature hand style with a design that will define our future series of watches. Drawing inspiration from the different forms of traditional spear tips, we have created hands that are both highly legible and visually distinctive, reflecting our commitment to bespoke design at every level.
For the hour hand, it is a tapered hand that culminates in a prominent, sharp, geometric spear tip. However, to increase legibility, the main body of the hand widens slightly before the tip. Combining the legibility of a broad hand with the sharp precision of a spear tip.
For the Minute hand, the stem tapers towards the base of the spear tip and it's designed to align perfectly with the minute/second track on the chapter ring for increased legibility.
The rotating seconds dial sits below the main dial to provide depth to the watch. To indicate the seconds, a heat-treated purpled arrow hand is also installed.
For the production models, the seconds dial will be engraved and hand-filled with lacquer to denote the 15,30,45 and 60th second.
Other than the great visual impact of an incline tilt, the 20 degree inclined balance wheel also helps improves timekeeping primarily by averaging out positional errors caused by gravity.
The standard balance wheel is also upgraded to a screw balance wheel which is then installed at a 20 degrees using our in-house developed movement.
The mainplate features a matte black powder coated brass and the other bridges on the dial side are made of hardened steel for durability. Both of which are manufactured and finished in-house.
Total development of the 'RD01' movement took approximately 12 months from start to finish. All components outside the gear train are produced in-house in our Calgary workshop.
The movement uses a heavily in-house modified ETA 6498 gear train and this was chosen with the intention of long term serviceability and repairability by any watchmaker familiar with ETA movements.
For Series 2, the movement bridges are crafted from stainless steel (chosen over conventional brass for its hardness) and finished entirely in-house. This material choice enables us to achieve a brighter, more brilliant mirror polish on the anglage and chamfers.
The stainless steel bridges are sandblasted and the polish on the anglage contrasts really nicely when juxtaposed beside the matte black mainplate.
We have always believed that the wearing experience of a dress watch depends significantly on the quality of the strap. Continuing our partnership with Atelier Kai for his amazing straps, every strap is meticulously hand-stitched and tailored to each customer's specific wrist size.
Only 20 pieces to be produced in 2026 at a price of USD 7.5k (excluding taxes) with a 50% deposit to secure an allocation and the remaining 50% upon delivery in 6 to 7 months.
